Not all of us accept that global warming is a fact. I had understood that the sandstorm was not intended to be controversial. If this has changed, I have a wealth of data that shows that global warming is a hoax. -Ray Wells ('54) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Mary Lou Watkins Rhebeck ('63) Re: Global Warming Dear Maren, I'm not sure you will publish this. Global warming is so very political that teachers and scientists are afraid of losing their jobs if they dare to disagree with Al Gore. Man made global warming fanatics will never discuss the other side. Maybe, and there is a lot of study to back this up, global warming is a natural occurrence. It is so political that laws are being passed and taxes raised without a scientific consensus that global warming is man made. Food is being turned into fuel while oil fields are left unused. Global warming fanatics would rather starve people that make a caribou walk 50 feet to avoid an oil well. Saying all this, I appreciate that you would go nuts trying to screen every comment coming in on Alumni Sandstorm, so I won't start a big argument... but I really get tired of the entire mentality of... "If Al Gore says it, it must be true... "...but maybe he is right... he did invent the Internet didn't he? And he did get an Oscar... and Hollywood is so up on unbiased thought. Ha! If you want to publish this, please do... as I think it is a good answer to Donna Bowers Rice ('63) who puts so much faith in Gore's book. My side deserves to be heard too. -Mary Lou Watkins Rhebeck ('63) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Rick Valentine ('68) Re: Global Warming Missed Spokane... 26º and snowing in Spokane this morning, 39º for the high in Spokane yesterday. If I had a copy of Al Gore's book, I would burn it for heat! Over 90" of snow here this winter, second snowiest winter on record in Spokane. Only the winter of 1939-'40 had more snow, and this morning we are taking another shot at the record... I have put flowers on my Mom's grave in the snow on Memorial Day in Spokane before, so late snow in Spokane is not unusual! -Rick Valentine ('68) ****************************************************************
